Validation of a Korean version of the satisfaction with simulation experience scale
Roh Young-Sook

Abstract
Background: The Satisfaction with Simulation Experience (SSE) Scale is an 18-item questionnaire that has proven useful in measuring satisfaction with simulation experience in students. The aim of this study was to assess its reliability and validity and compare differences in satisfaction levels between nursing students exposed to medium and high-fidelity patient simulation.

Methods: A convenience sample of 415 second year nursing students in a diploma nursing school participated in a validation study by completing the SSE Scale between September 2011 and June 2012. Exploratory factor analysis with varimax rotation was used to determine construct validity and Cronbach's coefficient alpha determined the scale's internal consistency reliability.

Results: The overall internal consistency reliability were satisfactory (Cronbach's alpha=.94). Exploratory factor analysis yielded a three-component structure termed Debriefing and Reflection, Clinical Learning and Clinical Reasoning; each subscale demonstrated high internal consistency: .91; .88; .85, respectively. Nursing students exposed to medium-fidelity simulation reported significantly higher Debriefing and Reflection subscale score compared to high-fidelity simulation.

Conclusions: SSE Scale seems to be a reliable and valid instrument for use in the Korean nursing students.
